The hope that we can escape planet earth and deliver ourselves from the hardship of daily realities and earthly oppressions in a ship has been explored by musicians such as Parliament-Funkadelic, the great Sun Ra and Janelle Monae. Wangechi's Afrofuturistic work proposes something new by creating an object that insists on respect for the interconnectedness of all living things and recognition of the human impact on other animals and ecosystems.
